It is possible to design computers with billions or trillions of transistors in such a way that desired user features are provided. There are no resemblances between brains and computers. However, the techniques that make it possible to design computers can be modified and adapted to relate cognitive phenomena to neuron activity. The book is a more accessible presentation of ideas previously published in academic literature.
